Pat, did you repair it yourself? I have one I bought, thinking it worked because the top moved up and down, but the bottom doesn't move. I am trying to work up the courage to start disassembling it and trying to find the cause myself, but I am skeered! Ha. I just joined this board tonight, because of this thread. I hope to glean lots from you all.

Welcome!!! We have soo much fun here...

We try to keep this thread for pictures, the "Sit a spell" for general chat, and open a new thread for particular issues.

You will probably find more help that you ever imagined you could here, I know I did.!

Cahill and Hearne's Boot Factory. Waterford. March 3rd. 1941

I was searching through Father Browne pictures (www.fatherbrowne.com)and ran across this old Singer in use at a boot factory in Ireland during WWII.

(Father Browne is the person who took LOTS of pictures of the Titanic on the maiden leg of it's ill fated voyage, but then was ordered off the boat before it sailed to America)

With every machine there is a story.
I was contacted by someone selling a machine. Sad story for us preservists out there. It was in sad shape. She offered it to me but even the blurry pictures told me to stay away as it had way too much work to do to it. I passed. The owner said that if I didn't take it, it was going to a dumpster. So I drove the hour, round trip and picked it up. The poor old gal has seen better days, and I am not sure that it will ever sew again. If it does, it will be a miracle. Behold, the National Rotary R-40 as I got it.

And yes, those are mouse nests and that is rust.
Does anyone have a manual for this machine?
There are more pictures on my FaceBook page.

Steve, I KNOW you can see it. I know you can see those decals too. Paint, maybe, Decals, pretty much gone forever.
