Miriam, You start it, I WILL contribute!!! That is what I ask myself sometimes. Can this machine be recovered? Then it is "What have I gotten myself into?" This one of mine here, quite interesting. Internal wiring, cast in motor, built in light, direct drive, and that bobbin winder. My favorite is the foot controller that looks like a microphone. So, are you going to start this? I found one just like this at a estate sale at first they had it priced with cabinet for $30 until they opened it and realize what they had. Just curious how much would one like this be worth?

that's a singer slant 500! i learned to sew on one of those because my mom had one.

Well, I have to say that I am excited about a machine I am going to be working on, a Singer 201. I am picking it up tomorrow night. It is in a nice cabinet too. I think it is a 1957.

I have this exact machine with the same cabinet! I have used it a lot. Bought it at an antique mall for $45 about 10 years ago. It is a great all purpose machine. I love my old machines!

That's a nice clean 201, looks like all it will need is some oil and grease.

This is machine that I purchased in a lot of machines last January. It was refurbished sometime it it's history by Sun Sewing Machine Specialists of California. The finish is very rough and may be a good candidate for a creative refurbish and return it to a treadling machine. At least it is not missing the front slide plate and did come with a partial manual. Later when the light is better I will post some pics of the "creative" re-wiring.
