Steve, do you have a photo of what the pointy shuttle should look like? I have a shuttle here that might fit your description but I thought it might be newer than your Victorian criteria... who knows though.

That is a great link to show the differences. I have one of the ones that are straight from #7 handcrank and the one with the "dogleg" which is for my #1. I can't wait to see which this is. Tracking says it has already reached Oakland. may be delivered as soon as Tuesday!

it arrived TODAY!!! intact despite being packed in friggin peanuts.... But it was double boxed, which saved it, the machine actually did poke out through the inner box....

So, I assume that the right up-right had a knob on the top of it to match the left one originally? And it appears that the user would simply pivot the work up onto their lap while seated, and hand quilt or hand embroidery in that position?

I seem to recall seeing an upright similar to those somewhere.....maybe something I got at an auction? I didn’t have clue what it was, if by some remote chance it was something along those lines..... I’ll have to see if I still have it......

I just wanted to share a couple of pix of the latest CFR (catch, fix, release) in my shop. A 1936 Singer 201-2. This machine has an interesting story. I saw it at an Estate Sale and asked about it. The woman that helped me was outside when I was bringing it out and I stopped to thank her for her help. She asked me what I was going to do with the machine. I told her that I fix machines for a living and I was going to fix it and sell it. She then told me that she was interested in it when I was done with it. (sold it to the person, that sold it to me, before I got it to my car???) I finished it last week. She picked it up today. That is a first for me.

As you can see, the machine was in need of a lot of attention. All new wiring, a couple of missing parts, a broken part here and there, a lot of cleaning and polishing, motor and drive rebuild, tune up, and she is ready for another 60+ years of service. The new owner and I are both happy.
