Default Weird stoppages .....

My SIL has a Singer T&S 600 she bought new wayyyyyyyyyy back when.

Some time back it just stopped. Jammed up. It would turn maybe a 1/2 turn either way and stop.
However if you pulled out the bobbin case, it would turn freely. Hmmmmmmm ....... ????

I told her I'd look it over so today my wife paid her a visit and brought the machine home. It took me maybe 10 minutes to take the top, bottom covers and nose plate off, then another 5 minutes to find the problem.

The problem was a tiny clear bead that had gotten down in the bobbin hook then was jammed in place.

About all it needed other than that was some oil and grease and a bit of cleaning.

So, if your T&S just stops, look close for weird obstructions in the bobbin case.

Great advice Joe. It can apply to many machines, not just the T&Ss. My first 301 kept skipping stitches and just acting up no matter what I did. I probably checked over the bobbin assembly 3 or 4 times before I caught sight of the pieces of monofilament thread behind the base. About an hour, some long skinny tweezers and more than a few choice words later I had removed about 20 pieces of invisible thread.

Well look at that! All those years sitting when it could have been in use.

I have an old Belair Delux that was doing this. I took the bobbin assembly out - I use gun cleaning tools/ brushes for cleaning out dust and thread bits at the end of a long day of use. Found nothing. A friend of mine makes jewelry I borrowed her magnifying stand -it has a light on it, Low and behold there was the eye of a needle stuck in there. I now have my own magnify stand

A lighted magnifying hood is what I use mostly. Comes in very handy.

Is that a bobbin winding post off to the lower right and the Touch & Sew name bolted over Auto Reel? Also what does the typed tape say?

Happened to my niece. Her gma (my ds)makes bead jewelry. She takes her dsm when she goes to her gma's. Some of gma's beads went flying one day right before dn was getting ready to leave. When dn tried to use her machine, she was having trouble with it. Had spoken with ds about the goings on day before. Told them to see if there were any beads that had gotten into the machine. There were about 5-6 little seed beads. They built a screen to block the bead work when she takes her machine.

The post on the bed under the T&S name plate is a push rod thingy to make the machine fill the bobbin in place. My SIL did not have a foot on the presser foot bar and mine are still in the storage locker so I couldn't try it to see just how it works.

The wording on the blue tape says: "HEM YOUR BLESSINGS WITH PRAISE, LEST THEY RAVEL."
