Arrow Singer 306 K and Singer 306W sewing machines

Can anyone tell me the difference between the Singer 306K and the Singer 306W sewing machines? The two machines look exactly alike. There is a good deal on the 306K on Ebay and I was wondering if it would be worth the purchasing it. I already have a 306W and wanted a second machine for parts if necessary.

It may just be where it was built. I have a 306W and was told the W indicates where it was built. Not sure if that is correct. I LOVE my 306 W, I have been keeping my eye out for one that comes up for sale... for the same reason. My 306W could not have had more hours of use...but it still performs.

I just checked and the K model was built in the UK , the W was built in Germany. They are identical machines except for where it was built.

They are identical but SOMETIMES take different bobbin cases. Weird, I know. But one takes the open bobbin case and the other the closed top bobbin case. Though, if they were late in the series there are some W and K machines that can use the same....why Singer did this? Who knows!

Thank you for replying to my thread. My 306W is my mother's sewing machine. I have had it fixed and still use it. This machine holds a lot memories for me. I want to make sure that when I need to have it fixed, I will parts for it.
