Default hopping foot substitute

does anyone know a substitute for the hopping foot/free motions quilting foot for a singer treadle? It's a pheonix long bobbin. the low shank darning foot I've got isn't working so well. I think the spring is to strong. any suggestions welcome!!

There's a thread around here somewhere where Muv discusses that machines that have shuttle bobbins can't FMQ. They'll break needles.

It was working so well on my clone 15 hugo I just had to try it on the spynx. It works fairly well it's just not smooth. the fabric seem to catch on the darning foot. Haven't broken any needles yet but only doing samples so far. thankyou for the warning!!! I think I will just stick to Hugo for fmq.
