Default pfaff 130 belt

I have had my pfaff 130 for a number of years, prior to acquiring several much older machines and gaining the confidence to do my own repair work. Thus said, I had the motor rebuilt and the machine tuned up by others long ago. It came back with one of those yellow toothed plastic belts. I put it away and played with others.

Now I would like to use it, but the blasted belt slips. I have looked for the black rubber belt and can’t locate one. The machine turns easily, the motor runs great, but the belt won’t grab well enough to turn the wheel. Will these toothed yellow-orange extremely ugly belts work? Is it possibly the wrong size?

The yellow-orange lug belts are pretty awful. There are two grades of lug belt. The "superior" lug belt is softer and will grab better, and cost a dollar or two more. But if you can get a rubber belt or a v-belt, they're much better. You can also adjust how tight the belt is pulled by adjusting the motor mount. Sometimes looser is better.

Mine has the same orange belt. It doesn't seem to hold well. Occasionally I will have to adjust the motor bracket to tighten it up a little. I agree that a Vbelt would be better, but this works and I sew with it every day.

I am afraid this is a terminal condition for your 130. You best option would be to place it on your porch and leave the lights off this evening and it could slip out of your hands peacefully into mine.

Why do I think you won't believe me???
