No One will laugh at your question, as we have all had that question on our minds at one time or another. Rice bags are heated in the microwave to use on sore or strained muscles. My young grand daughter has lived with muscle cramps, at night, for most of her life, so I make them for her & the rest of my family. They are so nice to have on hand. I hope this answers your question.

My grandchildren love to take a warm rice bag to bed with them to snuggle with. I made two for each of them last year and they request to have them both warmed up at night to snuggle with. Tummy aches are also soothed with warm rice bags for kids.

Instead of rice or buckwheat, I use sand ~ you know the kind you buy in big bags at your local hardware store. I tried lots of different fillers ie...rice, flax, etc. but I kept burning whatever I had put into the bag because I like mine really warm . So, I had some jars of sand in my sewing room for another project and I thought Hey, I'll try this and it works wonderful. No more burned smell. Works like a charm. Give it a try and see what you think.

Just make sure no tiny bugs appear down the road with the rice! Mine was stored in linen closet for a time before I noticed! No more rice bags for me! So maybe the hulls!? Thanks!

m-fay........I see you have been busy catching up before October!! I really like how your rice bag turned out. I think it's really nice when we can use pieces that we already have put together. Thanks for sharing with us today.
