I finished sewing all the blocks together and got them trimmed up and whip stitched together! Either I'll do the rest of the tris or sew the sashing between the rows next. Big decisions here! LOL!! Starting to see a little bitty light at the end of the proverbial tunnel!
Patti and Lace, did you count the sashing and border s and scallops in your piece count?? |
way to go jan. you all are going to miss the last 5 weeks or so of my blocks. pinned them to my design wall. spent the day marking the hanging sheet A-M and 1-13. thn attaching the blocks. now i can see the colors i used, and not wonder 'did i use that already". even tho i tried to mark bolts, move material to the used pile, etc. i think i'm working on 23.
now i can see what along way i have to go!!!!! |
Jan you are so close! You must be so excited!!
Cheers! Rachel |
Good idea Sew....now you can occasionally snap a pic of that wall so we can see too! LOL!

I have not joined all of you to make a specific, organized Dear Jane quilt, but I have the book and have used numerous patterns for bed/toppers, table runners, and very recently, enough blocks (about 100) for a quilt--but in 6" redrafted blocks, not the 4.5 size. Some designs are more difficult to change over (even using metric: 6 inches is 15.7 cm) but once the number of units within each block is found, these can be copied satisfactorily. I am keeping the 6" schematics of each block, including some of these templates (including seams) for anyone else who might want to make it. This envelope of patterns will be fastened into the book. BTW, the trianges make wonderful banners for holiday themed colors (Christmas and autumn) for fireplace mantels, top of curtains or windows, table scarves. I am looking forward to seeing all of your finished quilts!! Thanks for the suggestions to QAYG then sash together in rows. I now plan to do that with the blocks just finished.

Thanks everyone! Just keep on working , we'll be here to cheer you on and look at the pics of your progress. Been working on the tris. Slow but sure!! LOL!!

Yes, I counted every little bit - blocks/tris and all their component parts, sashings, cornerstones, scallops (mine were all seperate pieces) and finally the binding! |
i finally looked up 'that quilt' again. for M5. the last time i looked, i thought the site had been eliminated. but just can't believe the waste of material he advocates just to make this block. but it can't be any worse than what i've had to throw away already on just this one block....
trying to just sew the pieces together wasn't working for me.... and i sure didn't like the looks of just appliquing the 4 melons on a 5" sq. or was that the last block??????? i've just been filling in the blank spots on my wall. i think i am already crazy like jane must have been, or else she must have been incredibly talented........ |
