I'll be the first one to post my picture of the September BOM block for 2012 called the Maple Leaf. I decided to add border's around my block to look like a log cabin finish. It was really a fun block to make & I hope everyone enjoy's making their's as much as I did!!

Thank you Anael..............you are always so kind with your wonderful comments. I am glad you like this month's block.

Sulabug, can you tell me what fabric line the white is? I love WOW and I'm always looking for beautiful fabric. As I'm buying most all of the fabrics in the US sometimes I can't see the design on my monitor and it's like gambling! Once I ordered a WOW here in the Netherlands, had to order more of the same fabric, couldn't find it in their shop and I ended up ordering it by phone. They didn't have the same fabric anymore and the lady from the shop tried to explain to me how the other fabrics look like. I was very curious to see what I ordered :D :D

As always, beautiful block, Sulabug! Can't wait to start mine!

Anael........There is no name on the fabric & I buy it from our Wal-Mart in Washington. The color is actually a cream/tan color not white, but I have in the past bought the same design in white. It is a very nice weight of fabric & works well with my other LQS fabric's that I have. I am not even sure if they still carry this line, as I haven't looked for it in a while. I hope this helps & answer's your question. Thank you for asking.
:D :D :D :D

Anael 09-01-2012 11:00 AM

Sulabug, thanks, it sure answered my question but it didn't help LOL. I can't order from Wal-Mart, they don't ship outside the US :(

Sulabug, your avatar pic reminds me of a very dear friend who passed away a long time ago. When you post something I hear my friends voice when I read your post.

Opps... I posted my pic in the pattern thread. But, this is my Sept. Block, I didn't want to border, (small pieces) so I went on QC and found the Maple leaf in 12 inch. I'm happy with it. I may need to fix a point, but... I like the block.

Colleen...........Thank you for the compliment & we can't wait to see how your block turns out, when your harvest is all over. I used three different shades of Batik's to get the color just right. It was so much fun to make.

Sulabug, that is one interesting block. I love the fabric for the leaf, but to surround it like a log cabin makes its interesting. Can''t wait to see the finished quilt.

littlesurfer 09-02-2012 07:19 AM

Love your block, SulaBug...lovely fabrics! Looking forward to making mine!

stichinluvr 09-02-2012 09:41 AM

Great looking blocks. Guess I'd better get mine started. I'd hate to think I didn't get anything accomplished on my long weekend. Already lost 2 days (I was off Friday). Of course yesterday was lost on my daughter visiting from WY and celebrating my Mom's 85th biirthday. Guess I had an excuse for 1 day. lol

That is NOT a lost day! That is a wonderful found day and I'm sure you will cherish the memories.

Off Topic..............Has anyone looked at the September thread for Rhonda's Quilt Block Swap? I participated in August for the first time & it was a blast. The pattern's look intricate but with her methods, they go together quite quickly. Just wanted to share with everyone.

Here's mine. I'm not too happy with the fabric I used but I don't have fall colors so this is the best I could do. I found a design in EQ 5 and I thought I try this.

I think your block looks like fall! Great job!

Jeanine 09-03-2012 08:33 AM

Anael: I like your block. Growing up, many places I lived Sept was still summer weather. So, it looks like sunflowers to me, are just like my memories. It was in September we would be cutting our sunflowers for their seeds.

Thank you so much for sharing your picture with all of us. I am enjoying seeing all of the September blocks so far & hope to see many more!! Keep up the great work everyone.

I really like this block. We live in the country and everywhere we look now the Sunflowers are out, they grow along our highway. I told dh today I want to go cut some for my porch. And I think your block looks like a tulip... So the mauve fabric is perfect for that block.

Here are my blocks for September.

This fabric does have purple in it although it looks kind of pink in this picture:

For my second block, I did not do a maple leaf block. In central Ohio, fall means Ohio State Buckeyes' football. So I used buckeye & buckeye leaf fabric with a red block O for September. Might change my mind and so something else.

I am fond of maple leaves though. Here is a lap size quilt top I've made for myself that I call "Falling Leaves". Just needs quilted.

Thank you all for your lovely comments on my block. It made me feel a whole lot better about what I've made!

Bibliostone, I love your September blocks! The fabrics are beautiful, specially the background fabric in the O block. Your Falling Leaves is gorgeous, the colors are so warm, you should take your time to finish it.

I can hardly wait to see it again after you get it quilted & finished. Please share pictures will all of us when you are done with it. Thank you for sharing today.

I love that block. Thank you for sharing your versions. I just had to show off again a part of the maple leaf quilt I made my grand niece for a wedding present.

Jeanine 09-04-2012 06:17 AM

bibliostone: that second one made me laugh because yesterday when I asked my hubby what represented autumn to him he, unhesitantly, said Football!
