Nothing wrong with that Anne - looks great to me!Here are my blocks for this week. I know that Country Star is Wonky, and I also made all four colors match on purpose!

Honchey ... ITA with JeanieG, nothing wrong with that block. In fact, I think it's really neat!

JeanieG ... Great colours and contrasts.

Like JeanieG, I matched all four points of the Cowboy's Star and included some "bling". Also, I rearranged the fabric placements in the Country Lanes. I guess, I wanted more order! :)

It's a neat fabric ... the bling is like rainbow metallic pieces, more so than sparkles. I used it in another quilt a couple years ago, a little in the quilt top, then the borders and all of the backing!

I think your road fabric is great Honchey!
QuiltE and Jeanie, beautiful blocks! I matched the points of the star too :D Here are my blocks.

Beautiful blocks as usual, love your fussy cutting Anne, it looks great.
Here are mine for this week. I'm not happy with the centre of Cowboys Star but I am not unpicking it. It is as close as I am going to get it.

QuiltingNinaSue 03-07-2012 04:51 AM

Wonderful blocks!! Way to go everyone. Love them all.

gardnergal970 03-07-2012 05:26 AM

Wow. Everyone's stars are awesome!..and I do like the more ordered squares on the second block. Makes me want to get at mine but that will be my reward for getting the design wall cleared...hopefully today if my DH doesn't decided that today is the day to do taxes.

Great blocks, ladies.
Anne-your block reminds me that it's time for a FART!!
Jeanie-I have the same problem with CS-hope it quilts flat; love the colors you used.
QE-oh no! Great minds think alike. I had to have Country Lanes "flow" like roads and also have bling in CB. Love them.
Anael-your blocks are so soft & romantic--very pretty.
Mirabelle-love the roses and the darker red you used in CS.

Here are mine (I hope this works; I've been getting an Error Message when I try to post)

Termi 03-07-2012 05:55 AM

My gosh, how did you all do such a great job on cowboy's star? I need HELP! I've done it twice, I'm not sure how it goes together. It doesn't look like the pieces match. Anyone have any tips? I've finished country lanes and will post later. Gotta go.

Owo Beautiful blocks. Everyone did a great work.
I have done only the easy one for this week and I am racking my mind with the Cowboy Star...still trying.
Yours are awesome. How did all of you make it? Any hint is welcome!
So, here is Country Lanes:

QuiltE 03-07-2012 06:52 AM

Anael ... Fresh and Spring like!!!MiraB ... Perfect fit from your fabrics to give that star a western look! :)JanRN ... ha! GMTA we broke rank to re-order those lanes and put some bling on that star!! Good thought on Honchey's choice and the need for a FART!!! :) The first one to use stars in the star! :)JanRN and MiraB ... guess we're all thinking red and blue for cowboys? :)GGal ... Yes, sometimes those design walls get crowded!! Even with one the size of mine (7-1/2x10ft) , it is never big enough!! Right now I have my FWS all up there and wish it was another foot or two taller. Also have my 4PP ... next on the UFO list when I get the FWS off to the LQS. Oh no! at the thought of taxes ... ggrrrrrr!!! :)Termi ... did you PP? I only had one problem ... and that was when I put the right piece on but the wrong edge used. rrrrrrrrip! I made the star points first, joining the 4 pieces together. Then to each star point, added the outer most background piece to each side (that's where I joined the wrong side of one to the star). Then added one of the 5-sided pieces to each of the star points. So now you have 4 combined sections. Then joined 2 of each together. Then joined those last 2 to make one. Clear as mud in the Country Lane?? :) I kept them all laid out together as I went, to make sure I had everything in order. The mini-layout pictures have been really helpful.ArteEC ... OMG that's a wonderful representation. FCing is bang on. Then some gravelled roads and some wheat (or perhaps dried grass?) in the other blocks. Lovely!

QuiltE 03-07-2012 07:10 AM

Sorry folks that the above post is so jumbled!!!!!
I've re-edited it three times now, trying to get the paragraph spacings to stick ... and no can do! :)

BTW ... there's more discussion in the Discussion Page about PPing these blocks!

wendiq 03-07-2012 07:29 AM

QUILTE...I rearranged my Country Lanes too......what is it with this need to have order????LOL! I first did it their way, but decided it would drive me nuts so I redid it my way.....much happier....:)

As you will see, I altered my Country Lanes, too. I need the order like QuiltE....:)

QuiltE 03-07-2012 07:36 AM

WendiQ ... wowzers on that star! Great fabric choices and pointy-points!
There must be something about all us PC'ers that we need order!! :)

wendiq 03-07-2012 07:42 AM

Thanks QuiltE......that fabric that shows "purple" is really blue.....have no idea why the color showed up weird.....no matter, it's OK in person and that's what counts......

dublb 03-07-2012 08:00 AM

Aneal - Your colors are vibrant. I just love those blocks!
Miribelle - Colors are perfect & I see those roses again!
Jan - Your colors for Country Lanes are so soft. I love those heavenlys in your Cowboy's Star!
Art - Your interpretation of this block is perfect. Great FC!
Windi - These 2 blocks are so different from each other. Your layout of country lanes is neat! Blue is my favorite color. Those dots go perfect w/ the purple & yellow!

Great blocks all!

I agree!!! Is it the perfectionist in us? Well, me anyway! :) I'll do mine at my retreat!

Honchey 03-07-2012 08:29 AM

All the blocks are wonderful...color combinations are soooo balanced. ***** five stars for all!!!

Evie 03-07-2012 09:15 AM

Everyone, your blocks are beautiful! I haven't (yet) joined your journey but have been keeping up, eating your dust, so to speak. Some of the blocks seem intimidating! Once I get some of my current projects under control (sort of :)) I may attempt to catch up with y'all -- gotta put the book and fabrics to use. Just wanted to thank all of you for the weekly eye candy!

oksewglad 03-07-2012 09:34 AM

Oh wonderful wonderful blocks--must get off board now!

JeanieG 03-07-2012 12:01 PM

Evie - we miss you, hurry up and join us - whenever you can!

janRN 03-07-2012 02:42 PM

Arte, I love your block--it's so calming but very colorful.
Wendiq, I love your polka dots--such bright blocks.

I have finally conquered that beastly Cowboy Star:hunf: Not sure if it was a pretty victory or not.

Okay
Honchey love the Rt 66 fabric. Anyone see the movie "Cars"? Rt 66 a pipeline of travel across southern US; it fits right in.
Jeanie what a pretty blue floral in your Lanes. And so nice to see the horseshoes reappear.
QE wonderful fabric choices and FC in your CLanes, and my look at those sharp points in the Star.
Anael the lavender in your lanes is a calming color in a bright block. The sharp contrast of the white with the blues makes this block stand out.
mirabelle I like the way you have FC these same roses again. It will be a nice repetitive aspect of your quilt. The striking red points in the star are great.
jan what a pretty floral in CL. For some reason your star reminds me of a sheriff's badge.
ArteEmCasa Fabric choices in CL are exceptional as QE described so well.
wendi The blue bandana fabric draws attention to your CL block and the bright colors in CS makes the block pop.
Seems we have all met the challenge of this pair in our own ways.
Here are mine. Fabric placement was "planned" this way--that's my story and I'm stickin' to it;)
I must really tidy up the strings before I scan:shock:

JeanieG 03-07-2012 11:42 PM

Oh you did a great job OKsewglad. Beautiful fabric as usual!

janRN 03-08-2012 05:31 AM

Love your blocks, OK. They do remind me of being out in the country. Lovely fabric and so well done.

QuiltingNinaSue 03-08-2012 06:10 AM

Great block. Hope mine looks half as good.

Fabric Acquisition Road Trip=FART unpack clothes from suitcase and fill with shopping trip bags full of fabric. Throw clothes into Wal Mart bags or food store bags.

Thanks all for the compliments on my Country Lanes block, it was a simple and easy one but I like the result.Wendiq - we made our star with similar fabrics and colors, your is best done than mine. Love the blues on Country LanesOkseglad - perfect work, love the colors and fabrics.JanRN - I am also curious about that FART thing. Here is my Cowboy Star, also know as Frog Stitching Star. ArteEmCasa...I thought all of the frogs were at my house!!! They just wouldn't let the middle points match no matter how I tried to evict them. Just hope they don't keep hopping along with me.
All...I love the rest of the blocks and admire your skill both with points and selections of fabrics.

Here are mine for the week.

Gardnergal Beautiful blues and flowers on your Country Lane block.
I admire the ones who got a perfect star. I worked several hours on it but you know, it seemed that as much as tried it was turning worse. Oh my! Now I am happy because I decided let it be as it is. :)

janRN 03-08-2012 02:41 PM

Arte another beautiful block--I love the colors you used and it looks good to me.
GGal how pretty your blocks are. I like how different your star looks in the softer colors.

And NO--I was not talking about bodily functions. Thanks, ladies for explaining what a FART is. I have 2 quilty friends and we'll get in her van, hit Quilt Stores in....(where ever we want to go) and take off for a day of shopping and eating. My DH learned not to ask "where" we're going LOL because we usually don't know LOL!!

oksewglad 03-08-2012 03:47 PM

How fun, Jan. This old Fart needs a road trip like that once in a while.
ArteEm--sharp colors reinforced by the stars in the bground. I have found that I usually will only rip twice, if I haven't gotten it right by then I never will and yes this was a time consuming block. I had more trouble sewing that last "Y" seam. When I tore some of the seam allowance paper off it tore into the big triangle block and I lost my seam allowance and made sewing that a bugger. I've learned not to stress over it either--just not worth it, it's only a quilt.
GGal Nice bright blues in the lanes, a refreshing change. What's the paisley fabric in the bground of your star? Yeah it's probably my favorite type of fabric. Your star points complement it so well.

The picture doesn't do justice to the colors in either of my blocks. The paisley is really a cream instead of yellow and the coral and green are also much softer. It looks so delicate and old fashioned. This has to be one of my favorite fabrics and I wanted to show it off in a block that had more background.

I sorta did that last year on a trip to Indiana! Carried on a small bag with a quilt for my sister (checked in the bag with my clothes ), then filled the small bag with quilting fabric acquired at several shops in Indiana and Tennessee. My sister isn't a quilter, but she's a good sport!
