Quilt in a day has a new Autumn leaf/turkey table runner pattern. Of course, that word 'turkey' popped out at me from the Harvest House newsletter (in Plainsview?, Illinois)...and I was hooked. Had to order that for my upcoming BB gift to myself...think that turkey will have a blue head too. Watched the video on Quilt in a day, and I think I can put it together..I think I can.....oh, did I just start another project???????

Love the photo of the retreat the those big smiles; you folks are having toooooo much fun!!! It would be fun to get together to meet one another and show off our pictures/projects FWQ and PC, but distances are sooo great.

Drive up the mountain

DS came over and helped me resize the photos. The one of the speedometer shows 25 kilometres which is about 15 miles an hour, a very slow and windy drive.
Take note of the other vehicles wheels:eek: he is off the road as we pass. We did encounter a school bus that was coming down as we were driving up but DD was saying a little prayer and didn't get a photo. It was a tight squeeze to get past him.
This is my third trip up the mountain so am getting familiar with the road.
Hope you enjoy

As some o' us PC riders ride off on retreats the others kept the fire burnin' at the RV! It looks like GG, Crystal, & Carrie had a great time! Karen what a beautiful view, what a hard drive! Great times had by all.

Looks like everyone had a great retreat! I don't have anyone that I know that quilts, and am not fond of our Guild, so have never been on a retreat. Looks like a fun time!

No one to quilt with--no wonder you enjoy the PC caravan and the circling wagons around the campfire so much, Jeanie! Today my guild worked on Quilts of Valor. Our small group of ladies (25 or so) made 84 blocks which were then made into 4 quilts. One gal got the binding sewn on a finished quilt, others worked at piecing the tops of 2 blocks, preparing the backings and bindings for those two. The fourth quilt was ready for the longarmer. We have a new member in our guild who has just bought a LA and wants to practice. We get our batting from the local VFW Auxilliary. It 's been a good project.
Thanks for the pics Carrie. Sounds like everyone had a good time with new and old friends here and there.

Now this was a fun thread to read.
Thanks for the photos and reports of your retreats, Ladies!!!

CarrieM ... I'm envious that you and GGal got to meet IRL! You and your friend Crystal look enough like you could be sisters, and you didn;t tell us which one you are?

GGal .. nice to "meet" you!

MiraB ... how scenic!

QNSue ... have you noticed that the colours of those turkeys heads chance? I did turkeys a few times at one of the larger fairs and learned a lot. Guess what? when their heads turn blue ... they are angry at the world! When they are relaxed and calm, you should see them change back to less blue.

I bet they are more blue now, these days ... and running for their lives, knowing their destiny is soon approaching!

QE--I am the one on the left--no glasses, red shirt, polka-dot pants :) It is funny you say we look like we could be sisters...both of us have 3 sisters and most times would rather spend time with each other than any of them...just because we have more common interests. She is the oldest and I am the 2nd oldest.

QuiltE 10-14-2012 11:10 AM

Guess what? I was guessing you were on the left ... I don't know why!

Sometimes the friends we make are closer to us than our family .... I know that for sure!
Do the two of you have kids of the same ages too?
Gal Pals are important!

And in the pic, it looks as though the two of you may have adopted GGal as your new Mom!!! :D

BTW ... did you get Crystal into doing the PC blocks? or did she pass it by?

Oh yes QuiltE - I totally agree with this statement! My BFF is Myrna, who we visit nearly every year on Whidbey Island, WA (or they come to CA). We are so much alike! Even if we don't see each other but once a year, we just pick up where we left off the last time we were together. It is like we had never been apart!

Isn't that nice ... when a friendship can pick up where you leave off.
Or how when you meet someone new, you just "click" and it seems as though you've known each other forever.
............ Then there are the struggling friendships where you feel as though you have to "work" to be friends. Those just are never so enjoyable as when it can seem so natural!
