JeanieG,

Could you show a picture of your blocks please. islandwiz1 |
How is everyone doing today? I have started out with Part 2 just because a lady gave me all her strings she had cut and then decided not to make a spiderweb quilt. I had sorted them by color so it was real easy to pull out a couple bundles of blues. I am going against the rules a bit by using dryer sheets for foundation. I don't like pulling paper off and I made one string quilt with paper and it was all out of wack from pulling off the paper. I have 12 little blocks made and cut enough dryer sheets for another 30. They are so cute and go together really quick.
I don't have much variety in the blacks so I will have to do some digging for those. Are you all posting pics on Bonnie's site? I think I can just follow Bonnie's colors, but I do like how many are changing the color scheme. Have a great day and hope everyone can do some sewing. |

It's much easier to sew 8" squares as in the attached jpeg. Sew on the dashed lines and cut on the straight lines. Gives you 16 QSTs of the size needed for this pattern.

Just tried sewing one together. LOVE this method! The only problem I see is that there are so many repeats that I'm not sure how much variation I'll get. This is definitely much easier than sewing all those little triangles together though!

Yes, that is how I did it. I haven't sewn it together yet, so can't account for accuracy. I suspect I will need to cut it down to size, but that's ok, because I couldn't get it right for nothing if I don't sew a bit bigger.

Sometimes it pays to be a bit slower and thank you for sharing the various ways of doing the QST. I think I will do like most of you and use the paper. I don't have the ruler and have made the HST sewing on the dotted lines and then cutting apart. Didn't get much sewing today. I did find on the board here where you have been posting your pics. I love all the variety of color schemes you are using.

The progress so far hasn't been bad. I finished step 2 already (see photo thread), and the scraps. threads, snippets and corners on the sewing room floor are discusting! But I've gotta go to work today to make a living to buy more quilting stuff. Thank goodness for my kitty that helped me through it all.

Where is the photo thread that you posted on? I am still finishing step 1. |
Home from the holiday and I can begin!!!! I started cutting my triangles last night and I'm 5/6th done. I'm working with different width and wonky fabrics so I choose to just cut 1-1/2" strips, then triangles like Bonnie did. After work, I'll throw them into two bags and just sew sew sew. Tomorrow I'll work on Step 2. SOOOO excited!!!!
