Penny taught at the Nebraska State Quilt Guild meeting this last July. Everyone who took the class had a ball and learned this great technique. Saw her again in Des Moines in October and ended up with all of her books. Now my work is cut out for me. So far have 6 blocks glued but not stitched. Loads of fun though.

I am so happy that all of you want to play and are getting the book so you can start looking through it. Penny's book sales will be up this month! lol

I read through the front of the book a week ago and plan to do some fabric shopping online. I am hoping I find a co-ordinating set... one that has spots and stripes and flowers and swirls and .... anyway, ones that are from the same mfg's line.

This YouTube link will take you to Penny doing a demo of Pieced applique. Remember, we are using the 3rd book.

I have 3 books by her (including this one), her way of doing these fancy little blocks are a blast....sew easy. I am thinking about following along with this one...I have not worked out this book yet....

I also saw her in person at my LQS, she was so funny and entertaining.

How necessary are the rulers shown on this site for making up the blocks?

First let me say that I have not yet made any of these blocks, so I may find out soon enough the reason to want a ruler with holes in it.

I thumbed through the book. The square ruler with the holes drilled into it are used to help you pick out a 'fussy cut' spot, and then be able to make a dot through the ruler to mark your edges. Remove the ruler connect the dots and add seam allowance to it before you cut.

I think if you have a 6.5" X 6.5" ruler you'll be fine with that. If you want to order one with the holes in it, the 6.5" size is what she is showing in the book.

I am going to start with what I already have. Its easy to add one on later if I need it.

Hope that helps some.

hugs, Jupiter
