I think i will have to consider this a "prototype". LOL
I so rarely use satin or decorative stitches, my need to practice is waaaaaaaaaaaaay obvious.
Sewing over lumps with deco stitches turned out to be more difficult than i expected.:o

As with doing anything new, I will take the lessons learned from this one and try again.
Given all the lessons, i suspect it will be again and again and at least one more again. LOL LOL LOL

I guess i'll finish the intended mug rug ... but i sure won't give it to anybody i like. LOL LOL LOL

Patrice, I really like what you did with it with the yellow background. It looks great.

tlrnhi 02-01-2013 05:15 AM

I think it's pretty. You can "unlike" me and give it to me! lol

fmhall2 02-01-2013 05:35 AM

Patrice, I love the fact that you did yours on the yellow background. It looks so pretty. Thanks for letting me do this. Margie fmhall2

Oh wow, another month of having to bring my A Game. You guys are definitely keeping with the theme-- this looks like a challenge, but so fun!

I think I'll use different reds and whites.. oooh so excited!

rwquilts 02-01-2013 08:03 AM

I have printed out the pattern and will get started! :)

Here is my February block! Almost forgot how to do these, oh well, it is what it is and I am not changing it! I am using the background fabric in all, I hope, blocks for this year. I have another to use if I run out. Added ric rac around it to go for a crazy heart look.

labeelady 02-01-2013 05:56 PM

Kathy, my goodness you are quick! It was just posted this morning, and you have yours done already! I have it printed out but haven't selected my fabrics yet, because I was gone most of the day.

Happy sewing, all!

fun2quilt 02-01-2013 06:54 PM

That's because I don't work, was done with the heart this morning, appliqued it this evening. In between, cleaned the house, worked out, went shopping, out for a late lunch with the hubby, and taking care of the puppy. A very full day! And now a looooong wait for March to arrive!

marytoddliz 02-01-2013 09:33 PM

Oh it is pretty, i can't wait to start it!

Whew! Didn't come out exactly like the pattern, but man! That thing was a challenge! I need to finish the square out, but I feel like the hard part is over. :D

I did extra little stitches on the green dots and blue stripes in case my heart gets "broken" lol!

SulaBug 02-03-2013 12:43 AM

WOW!! Everyone's blocks are turning out amazingly wonderful & I love each & every one of them!! :D I have my block put together, but I am doing the embroidery work by hand, so I won't be able to show a picture just yet. I sure hope it turns out good!!
:D :D :D :D

Caswews 02-03-2013 08:15 AM

Thanks for posting for fmhall2 that was so kind of you .. Love the yellows by the way ..

dd 02-03-2013 11:45 AM

I like yours, Frenchfryqueen, with the larger pieces. I finished my first heart but don't really like it. I think I would like it better with less fabrics and larger pieces. Back to the sewing machine to try again.

Mousie 02-03-2013 03:04 PM

ohhh, deez are purty! :)

johnniek 02-03-2013 03:46 PM

Finished my block, I'm using the same color scheme this year for all my blocks. I'm going to put a crazy border on this, but have to wait to see what the other blocks around it look like. This was more of a challenge than I thought it would be, and I need to practice my fancy stitches. But it was a fun block to do.

After some frustration, i managed to finish this block. I had more difficulty with this block than I've had in years; patchwork is just not my thing, I officially declare it. Thank you to Sheep for getting me over my hurdle. Now, I am off to buy another seam ripper, this one is dull. :)

This was fun, and I am going to make a quilt of all the blocks this year so I'm making them of matching fabric.

I've just been looking through all of your blocks, and they all look great. I love what each and every one of you have done. Looking forward to seeing the rest. Margie

SewExtremeSeams 02-04-2013 06:30 PM

Everyone's blocks look great. Sapphire, we can't have too many seam rippers IMHO:D:D
Thanks Nelco for helping me out with this block.

Sapphire_Rae 02-04-2013 06:42 PM

LOL, SewExtreme!! I found that out. This is a fun BOM, I do like the challenge. :)

I have finally finished my Crazy Heart block for February. This block was so much fun to make, I really enjoyed this pattern. Instead of machine stitching all of the little pieces i chose to do hand embroidery work, because I love to do it that way. I hope you like my block for this month. ENJOY!!

I've finished! I had some confusion at first but think I got the logic of the PP. It's not going to win any awards but it's not bad, IMO for the first time using foundation piecing plus I got to use all the fancy zig-zag stitches on my dressmaker! I am soliciting tips for keeping the background from puckering with the satin stitch. I used stabilizer and that helped some but I wish it was flatter. Anywhoo...I'm calling this one "Blue Valentine".

jmoore 02-08-2013 04:56 AM

SulaBug, did you just turn your edges and blanket stitch or did you use any sort of bond facing? Your crazy heart is beautifu and I am just trying to think of the best way to attach it to my block.
