Hey, Sulabug, I'll be sure to bring a baker's dozen of the cinnamon crunch bagels. Do you think that will be enough? I eat them straight...maybe warmed with a touch of butter. Panera also has yummy soups, my favorite is the black bean. Plus salads that are so healthy. Maybe I should ask if any cook/baker from there wants to go on a train ride?

Paintmejudy you can't go wrong with food from this place. And the cinnamon rolls fill a dinner plate. Well, almost. And my doctor wants me to lose weight. LOL!

May 9, here we come! I think I'm hearing the whistle, but it's very faint.

Can't wait for this trip to start! When will the fabric requirements be posted? Or did I miss them somehow? Don't want to miss the train!

Paintmejudy...I like your new avatar. Is appliqué your sweet spot in quilting?

paintmejudy 05-06-2012 06:52 AM

Actually, applique and I don't get along very well. I have a friend on this board who is a master at hand applique, she does beautiful stuff, and thought I would give it a try. Was going to make the block in my new avatar. But it was horrid, so I just put fusible web on the back of all the pieces, trimmed it down and ironed on a piece of black batik. One more of the little projects hanging on my sewing room wall. I've decided, even tho' I like some hand work, applique is not on the list. I love to do embroidery and have made a couple quilts using Crabapple Hill patterns.

I'm back from my lil trip to the National Quilt Museum in Paducah. We weren't allowed to take any pictures inside the museum so here is a picture of me and a very shy member of my youngest daughters new inlaws. She hand pieces quilts and then another member of her family quilts and binds them by hand. I non-stopped talked about quilting... and it pulled her a bit out of her shell. :) We had fun and a nice lunch then we traveled back to her farm in Kentucky where me and my daughter and her husband and son were staying on our trip. They live about an hour and half from Paducah and have a couple small lakes on their property so I enjoyed watching my grandson on his first fishing experience. The farmhouse was over 100 years old. It was a museum in itself. :) :) :)

PaintmeJudy- ooh so yumm on the applebutter.. and pumpkin butter I have never tried..I will look forward to enjoying it on some toast in the club car between clues. Im very excited and I brought home fabrics from my trip hoping to use some on the new mystery train trip.

Coopah- Bring your applesauce, I love that as well. I didnt find any applebutter on my trip. Looks like I might have to wait until Sept when we visit the apple orchards for pickin and Yes! I am so In on this next mystery trip.

Anngelanne- Yumm on the peachbutter... Never heard of it...however it sounds wonderful also

Have a restful Sunday ladies... May 9th is just around the corner and we will have to break in a new thread with all our chatter.. :) :) :) :) :)

WOW, what a great trip, thank you for sharing, did you take any pictures of the 100 yr.old house or the countryside.....or their quilts in progress.....your writing gives me pictures in my mind/imagination and they are delightful.

working on two more UFO's - want to finish before the 9th

CajunBear 05-06-2012 12:59 PM

The 9th sounds like fun but I'd like to be able to just finish this one! lol It's on the design wall and all I need to do is sew each strip on each side. Maybe this week!

Hugs,
Betty
