"Spike Your English" Block of the Month Quilt-Along
#851
Hi Jude and welcome back, if you have a peek at the completed blocks so far most participants are using their stash and creating wonderful blocks. If you want a more controlled look pick a background fabric 3 yards should be enough for the 12 blocks, for the same outer "leaf" points I have 1 yard of fabric and for the rest I am using co-ordinating fabrics. For the setting triangles maybe another yard. This is a bit of a mystery as there are no instructions for putting it together so we can let our creative heads go and I am sure we are going to see some spectacular quilts.

Jude - we had a leak in our kitchen wall and did not know about it until we came home after a trip and found half our living room carpet dripping wet. That was in April! We just got back into our kitchen two weeks ago (5 months). Thank goodness for Homeowner's Insurance, as they paid for new carpet and new kitchen cabinets. But they were VERY slow in approving every step of the way. We moved a breakfast bar into the garage and used that for an area to fix things. Also moved the refrigerator and microwave into the garage. We still need the glass tile backsplash done, and that is scheduled for next week. Our tile guy is very busy.

Dear Spikers,
Thank you for sharing all of your lovely blocks. You've given me ideas for color combos, and fabric choices.
As many of you know, I am choosing my colors from the rainbow song (red and yellow and pink and green, purple and orange and blue, I can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow)
I got stuck on the log cabin block-because I am up to pink in the song. I have tons of pinks, but none of them work, and I almost gave up (I like rules and order and was set on following the song). I'm crazy busy at work, not sleeping and I take care of my parents and my daughter, so I'm a bit stressed, which does not help with the being creative bit. Then I realized that all of you are taking these patterns and making them your own-and I could do that too. It was a big deal for me as I am a perfectionist and following the song was perfection.
Long story short, last night I pulled greens and immediately found ones I loved for the log cabin. And my pinks will be beautifully showcased in the diamonds. I am back on track, thanks to you all.
