Default Another use for quilting fabric

I spent hours looking for a wallpaper border for my kitchen that is undergoing a forced remodel (water softener overflowed and ruined several floors). No luck, so I looked online on applying fabric to walls. Liquid starch!!!I have several fabrics chosen for curtains so I didn't need to search for any. Today I soaked a scrap of fabric in starch, smoothed it on the wall and it worked perfectly . Now to clean the soffits and apply the pretty stuff.

Wonder if it will come down as easily some day? Great idea, though, for the perfect match!

I'm sure it will come down more easily than wallpapers I've used. I think it will just pull off, then the starch can be washed off.

Decades ago I saw a home decorating show that discussed this exact process. According to them it does remove easily. I have not tried it. It was especially recommended for renters since it is a reversible process.

Fantastic idea. I would like to take down some plastic tiles behind the kitchen sink. Do you think this would work???? Would you put a finish over the top so it would be washable on the wall? I love your idea. Edie

Yes, it should come off easily after being soaked with water. Navy wives did this in the 80's to brighten up dreary quarters and had to remove it before moving from military housing. Worked great! Of course, we usually moved every 2-3 years, so I can't speak for any longer than that.

Jan - If you wet/soak the fabric with water, it removes very easily…..Far better alternative (IMHO) than wallpaper, and easier to get up without wrinkles, etc.
