Isn't it amazing how animals leave lasting imprints on our hearts?

Any new kitten added to our home from a rescue has done the same thing. One of them actually hid in a bureau draw for hours until she became hunger and needed a bathroom break. When finished, she went right back in to the closed drawer, she accessed it from the back, for days until she felt safe in her new home. Best to just ignore her and let her explore on her own time. If you chase her I think it would frightened her.

It sounds like she is adjusting well. I would imagine her mom's owner probably socialized her some. Most animals need some adjustment time at the beginning.

I enjoyed reading this thread. I have dogs but I learned a lot about kitties! Broke my heart to read
About a kitty in a closet with their face to the wall.
Happy life ...happy ending for that one!
