bathtub refit

Yes Anne. I had my bathroom tub done a year ago. I went to Lows. They have some one come to your home, measure everything and give you a price. At the time I did mine, I also needed a new sink and cabinet. They did a great job, we are very pleased. You can also go to Bath Fitters if there is one in your area.

Sounds like you could redo from scratch as cheap as having Bathfitters (or whoever) do their makeover.

We have a beautiful ceramic tiled bathroom consisting of the tub/shower enclosure and the floors. Unfortunately, the tub is blue. Everything is the same age....1976. Hubby wanted to coat the tub or have a vinyl covering made. The cast iron tub with porcelean finish was difficult to clean. Minerals built up as a white coating and we can't use most chemicals in ordinary cleaning due to respiratory issues.
Hubby attempted many different experiments before trying a suggestion I found on line. He applied the ceramic cooktop cleaning liquid to the surface of the tub. He did not even wait until it dried as he does for our ceramic cooktop. The mineral deposit was wiped off easily. Our tub looks new! We can put up with the color and saved hundreds of dollars. If this might be your situation, please try the solution we used. Good Luck :-)

We had our bath tub and walls done using bath fitters Our fixtures were yellow and we wanted them white and I didn't want my husband to have to deal with replacing the tub. My husband did remove the tile and old wall board and replaced it with cement board. Bath fitters then recovered the tub and put up a wall surround. It was a second bath room but we did have someone using that bathroom for two years. I only cleaned the room. Felt that the tub was a little spongy. The new top did not fit the tub 100%. The finished product was okay. However, after it was done I felt it would not have been any more expensive to have put in a new tub and tiled the walls. We sold the house about 14 years later and it was still looking great. I think we paid about $2000 for the tub cover and surround.

We had our bath tub removed and a walk-in shower installed. Best remodel we ever did! We used one of those national companies, did a wonderful job! Workers were kind and conscientous of the care of the bathroom and parts of house they were thru. One day and done.

when we bought out condo 7 yrs ago, the bathroom was the original, 42 years old.
we looked into a fitting and it was the same price as if we did it over. we knocked
it down to the studs and built up. i sw what was there, and it looked in good shape.
we had a full shower installed with river rock on the floor. it's beautiful now. we also had a seat put in
for future use, I'm 57 and not in the best of physical health. I'm healthy just not th
knees and back. I'm glad we did it. If you're looking to cut down on preice. select cheaper fabrics
.We were quoted at mid line, and some stuff we upgraded. ie. handicapped toilet.

We had our bath done over with bath fitters. We had tile on all the walls, one wall the tiles were loose. They can in took of the tiles, repaired the wall then put our new tub and new walls over everything. Just make sure you get a known firm to do it for you.
