Default Beautiful handwork

I go over to a big thrift store that is run by a church from time to time, to see if they have any interesting fabric in their linen section. That is where I found my beautiful overlooked quilt wallhanging. As I was looking thru the bagged items, I saw what I thought might be a tablecloth, so I asked them if I could open the bag and look inside. This is what was in it. I have made these, tho not as elaborate, and know the time and effort that went into them. Another case of just tossing out the hard work of some relative. They have a good home now. If I could afford it, I would have the white ones mounted and framed. All are in perfect condition.

How beautiful. I know how long it takes to crochet and I would hate to know my things wound up in the trash. Thanks for posting and for rescuing them!

My granny used to make those. Some had grape clusters on them and some she soaked in sugar water and then let dry on coke bottles at intervals so they would stand up. I managed to get a couple of them when my momma died, so I'm guessing they are now almost a hundred years old. Granny made them when she was very young, or when Momma was and I'm 63. Beautiful, intricate work.

I too know the work involved making these - especially the white ones with all those medallians. Glad you were able to rescue them.

As an avid crocheter, of doilies in particular, KUDOS to you for 'saving' those. I have close to 100 doilies, they're my favorite thing to make.

I have made some very small pieces similiar to the white one. The person who made these was very talented. Congratulations on your finds.

Thank you so much for giving these a good home! They remind me of one of my aunts who was very talented.
