Default Brother Innov-is 1400e

Thanks to all for suggestions and advice on selecting an Emb.machine. After lots of checking, I'm currently leaning towards the Brother Innov-is 1400e. I must wait until next week when the manager of the quilt shop returns, to check it out and find out if it is in our budget and if this I what I want. Do any of you currently own this machine, if so what do you think about it? Again, thanks to all for your help. Gerbie

I bought the Innovis 1250D 4 years ago. The 1400e seems to be the latest version of this level machine from Brother. This machine has some nice features and does quite a bit. Unless you are going to be doing a lot of embroidery this is a good choice. Lots of stitch options, auto-thread, auto-cut. It's sturdy and a good value. I own three Brothers and they all have in common that the drop-in bobbin is picky. For value and features this is a good choice.

Brothers are solid choices. The 1400e does get good reviews and does a 6x10. I would also check out the janome 500e which also about the same range. They both seem popular for their range. I enjoy my brother alot. also leave room in budget for threads and stabilizers as it does get pricey outside of the machine and when I bought mine I didn't realize the extras. sometime the dealer will throw in a few extras

I don't have a Brother but just wanted to suggest you check Amazon for stabilizers - it can be as much as 50% less. I also get some at Joann's with a coupon, but a lot of time its on sale for a decent price. Threader.com has some fantastic prices too for thread.

Hope you don't get intimated by the machine - they are great fun to use.

I know you need stabilizer, is there a certain brand for each machine?

I know you must use stabilizer, but do you need a certain brand or type for different machine brands?
