Hubby and I decided we wanted to get away this weekend and we have a small vacation fund saved up.
So, we are going to explore Healdsburg, CA, camp overnight at a campsite on the Russian River and then go canoeing ALL DAY Sunday!
I am soooo excited! I love canoeing and haven't been canoeing in about 12 years!

Be careful and watch out for motor boats. We just had a death in this area from a kayak / motorboat collision. Husband and wife were kayaking on a lake in the Adirondacks and were capsized by a passing boat. Authorities still aren't sure if it actually struck them. Wife was saved by witnesses on beach but husband drowned. Both had life vests but were not wearing them.
PS I love that area by the Russian River. Very beautiful. If you canoe where no motorboats can go, even better!

I canoed on the Spring River in Arkansas once. Very serene.
You could see through the water to the bottom and watch the fish. The currents were thrilling. The people I was with did it every year and knew where the currents were and what to do. It was lots of fun.
Be safe and enjoy.
Regards, Dorothy
