What is the brand name? It may be a good clue. Are some plastic with no metal? It's hard to see because the photo is fuzzy, but they look like they could be automotive in nature...maybe to check fan belt sizes or wear?

Cars have spark plugs, newer cars don't have a carburetor any more.

Yes, gasoline engines still require spark plugs even the latest models. The electric vehicles don't use them because there is no fuel that requires a spark to start the engine.

We have a 2012 Subaru and it has spark plugs--hubby says only diesel engines don't have spark plugs. Learn something new everyday.
