It must really be spring. I just saw a bright red cardinal sitting outside my window! This would not be a rare sighting if I was in the north country, where I would see up to 10 at a time, but I an in NYC now and seeing just one is a miracle to me.

Wow, I admit I've had the (probable) misconception that there aren't pretty, colorful, spring-type birds in NYC, can understand your enthusiasm. :-)

Here in the South the birds are singing at night. A first for me. Maybe it is a bird that has gotten lost?

I saw him again, this time with his mate. A Blue Jay was around too. One of the things I love about NYC is that you can see almost anything at one point or another. I know I will never see a Blue Bird because they are very picky about nesting on near big empty spaces and we don't have many around here, but there are some pretty birds here too.

I have a pair of cardinals they like to make their nest in one of my bushes in the summet my DH would turn the sprinklers on late afternoon and they would wait for it to bath in so cute when had a chick with them
