I lost 110 pounds last year w/o surgery ---just diet and exercise . I started on New years day. I have 30 more to go. That's why I'm up at 4:30 a.m. and headed the gym. Keeping it off is just as hard as losing it. I have rheumatoid arthritis and the diet change has been a god send. Good luck to all who will try ( and succeed!!) this year. You CAN do it.
WOW!!! This is fantastic!!!! I wish I could have lost that much! Having had knee, then foot surgery, I had not been able to walk in a long time. I can get around for what I need to do fine now but really need to get to walking for exercise!!!!

Didn't lose, but sure FOUND a whole bunch more. Congrats to all of you that have been successful! One tip I just learned is to LIMIT your sugar intake to 15 grams a day - this includes fruit!! That was a surprise to me (maybe that is the reason I never lose) and also drink water, water, water, and keep a journal....wonder if I can do it????

Congrats to all! I lost my 30 pounds in 2007 and have been able to maintain the loss within a fluctuation of five pounds. I did read a book recently that said we should think about releasing the weight because at a subconcious level when we lose something we want to find it again. I've done a lot of studying of nutrition so that I can maintain my loss. What I've learned is fat loss is 75-80% what we eat and the rest is exercise. What I've discovered is that what all diet plans seem to have in common, whether raw, primal/paleo etc., is the elimination of sugar and processed foods and the inclusion of nutrient dense real, whole foods. And the other side of the coin is making sure your gut health is good so that you absorb all the nutrients from the real food you eat.
I wish everyone great success in 2013 in releasing all the fat you desire.

lost 24( started in fall of 2011) and maintained for a year. Found about 10 of it and it doesn't want to leave. Hubby goes out of town the end of January for a week will put serious efforts into losing some of it again! When hubby is home I cook and eat too much... without him there I eat regularly scheduled meals but not near as much.

Gained 30 - 35 pounds earlier this year when my husband was dying of bladder cancer. Never left his side - ate everything that wasn't nailed down. He died May 5 - followed by a rough summer. Getting my act together now and have lost 12 of those pounds. Just came back from the dr. - he was pretty happy with the loss - lowered my A1c (diabetes) and lowered by glucose number.
Hoping 2013 will make me a healthier & thinner person.
