I just found this video on the edit-express-lite software that is free from Amazing Designs. Thought I would share my find.

You might also take a look at SewWhatPro - they have a free 30-day trial but after that the software is very inexpensive and they are constantly working with stitchers should they see anything else that could make it even better. It will open just about any kind of format, and you can save it in any format you need.

I want to thank you all for the suggestions. I went back to the store and they loaded it on my usb stick and came home and still does not work. It is an issue with my computer and have to get that fixed. No wonder it did not work. But thank you all for trying to help me.

In your first post you said it looks like you will have to convert your PDF files to PES, there is no way you can do that. No matter what software you use you can only convert embroidery files like PES, DST, JEF etc., to other embroidery files, example convert DST files into PES files. You cannot convert a PDF, JPEG, TIF, to an embroidery file. When you tried to install the trial version of Embird did you download it and then install it? As with most software, it is downloaded onto your computer and then you have to install the downloaded file. It's possible you downloaded the file and it's sitting in a temporary location on your computers hard drive. You will have to install it in order for it to work.

I think rjwilder has hit it on the head--you CANNOT convert PDF files to embroidery. I suspect the PDF's are color charts and instructions. And I would look in the 'downloads' folder on MY DOCUMENTS page to see if the embird is 'resting' there waiting to be opened for installing!
