I HATE it when people so calmly "dispose" of a pet. But I did get Emile at the Humane Society so I'm glad there's a place to take pets for people who feel that they must get rid of them. Yeah, I know -- sometimes circumstances dictate that we have to part from our pets but I just don't know how people do it! The reason given for Emile's entry was "moving to a No Pets apartment" -- huh?? If my cat isn't welcome, I'm not going to live there!!

I totally agree. I've seen the same reason for that, but mostly it was the elderly that come across this situation, which is sad.

UPDATE on Emile:

Yesterday morning we went to the vet and had Emile's bladder x-rayed. The x-ray didn't show any problems or crystals that the vet was expecting to see due to the test results from his blood and urine. She said that meant that the crystals were there, just not large enough to see yet -- which was good! So anyway, for right now, we're just changing his diet and I'll have him re-checked in 5-6 months or sooner if he has a problem.

He's doing so much better! He's been more like his old self and actually playing and chasing stuff around! I didn't even fuss a bit ago when he got up on my sewing/computer tables. (He does that when he thinks he hasn't had enough attention lately....)

I am so happy for you and your cat. I had said my hope was a change of food would work. So glad to hear it might. Give him a hug from me. :D
