how do they get in garage. check for openings... animals will search housing that is warm...check under the hood of the car for nesting materal, or right arund the garage, or if you have storage near the ceiling ,rafters.
Could be squirrels, We have one that can carry a whole stale bagel off te deck and across the yard and up a tree.

Maybe get a Have A Heart trap, it won't kill the animal. Then you can let it go somewhere far away.

Im checking with some friends to see if they have a trap that will cage the critter but not kill it! Strangest thing ever!!! Will keep you posted!
