I use to ONLY sew with invisible zipper. The company that makes the zippers usually have the feet also available. Mine are all sorts of bright colors that work with different DSM. Here is a u-tube video showing how to use your standard zipper foot when sewing an invisible zipper.

I, too, remember using a special foot for the invisible zippers of decades gone by. If it's that fiddly for you I'd just go with a regular zipper and call it good.

My best advice is look at you tube videos, trust me there are lots of them and you'll always find work arounds for feet and zippers, etc

I just used my zipper foot that came with my Janome MC4800. just as long as it lets you stitch next to the zipper teeth, you should be fine. directions always come with the zippers.

The new fashion?? Some have sparkles where the teeth show!!! Not my cup of tea!

For the past couple of years that's been a new trend, its called an exposed zipper. They do them alot on project runway, not one of my favorite looks. It makes me think someone made the dress and didn't have the right kind of zipper.

Well, I bought one and bought the foot, (it was cheap), so I guess I'll give it a go.

Thanks, everyone, Watson

I have seen this also and I guess it's a new trend. Tacky but so are so many other fashions.

I don't care for the exposed zipper either. But you should be able to use any zipper you want in your dress.
