Lending out your sewing machine.

Lending out your sewing machine.
If your neighbor came to you and asked to borrow your sewing machine, would you let them?
I would let a neighbor use my machine in my home, but I would not let them take it out of my house.

If I only had one machine, I'd be very hesitant. Even with more, I'd be selective about which one I let someone borrow. That being said, I 'stole' my friend's machine once. She was on vacation and I was in the middle of a lace wedding dress and my machine quit. A friend loaned me hers, it wouldn't sew the lace so I broke into my close friend's house and took her precious Elna - the twin to mine. I did leave her a note. I hope she knew it was safe with me as I was the one who maintained it for her. We still laugh about it 30 years later, so I guess I was forgiven.

Guess it depends on if it's a neighbor or a friend. My new machine has been on the fritz and the "good" repairman is on vacation. I have a FMQ class in Paducah next week. My GF offered me her 12000. I would not take it and we finally jerryrigged mine so that it works but it's not fixed. I loan out my second machine all the time to friends and let friends use my new one--when it's working. I would let them take it home. Now a neighbor is a different story.

Depends on who it is. I let my bff use my Bernina 830 to do an embroidery project that took the jumbo hoop. We've been sewing/embroidery buddies for years. I have other friends that no way would I let them use my machine.
