Does anyone on the forum have a regular embroidery machine and uses it to embroider on hats? If so, what type of hoop do you use and what kind of machine do you have?

My DH wants an embroidered hat and he feels I should be able to do it on my machine.

I do not do them,but, I have seen some machines do have a special " hoop" for hats...

My friend has 3 big embroidery machines and she has a hat hoop specifically designed for the curved part of the hat (not the bill).I however, have a regular sewing machine that also embroiders and cannot do hats on mine.

I have a regular style embroidery machine and do caps and hats. You have to buy a special insert to fit into your 5 x7 hoop and it was about $100 - a lot of money to spend to do one hat! I do them for other people so have managed to get some of my investment back. What type machine do you have? My current machine is a Babylock Ellisimo but have had a Janome in the past and used it to embroider hats as well!

Scowlkat, I have a Designer 1 and a Diamond.

I had Janome 9500 in the past and that one I had a hat hoop for, but I have never seen one for a Viking machine. I think if I could make one, I would make more. :)
