Default Machine Embroidery Thread Conversion Chart

I recently bought a Brother Dreamweaver XE. While playing around with it I noticed the embroidery color guide is based on Madeira thread, and another kind I don't remember. I have never heard of that brand and most of my embroidery thread is Coats & Clark or Isacord. I went to JoAnn's this morning to look for thread for Disnet patterns, wrote down the Madeira threads numbers, but couldn't find any type of correlation between numbers. Is there a chart that shows comparisons for the major manufacturers such as Superior, Isacord, Sulky, Coats & Clark, etc.?

If not how do you choose the colors to correlate with the Disney colors?

Thanks!

congrats on your new Dreamweaver !! My sis has one and it is very nice !! Sulky used to have a chart online for thread conversion. I have a Viking machine that does embroidery but bought a huge lot of embroidery thread off ebay a few years ago that didn't have a brand name but Sulky's color charts allowed me to match many of the threads.
Good luck and have fun!!

I have a Brother PE700 and the Quick Reference Guide has a conversion chart for Country, Madeira Polyneon, Madeira Rayon, Sulky and R.A. Polyester. Perhaps if you contact your Brother dealer they might be able to get you that book.

You can Google to find thread conversion charts. I found this one:

I don't use Madeira thread or RA. What about Gutterman, Sulky, Coats & Clark?

I normally use the closest of what I have (several brands) to kind of match what is being called for. I love the organizer that comes with Viking machines because I can go into the thread manager and enter all of my threads, brand and color and then I can tell my software to pick colors out of all of what is entered that is close to what is being called for. Sometimes it's all one color and other times its a really big mix but it works great. I also use the thread manager as a guide when I go to the store because I can print it out and have a list of what I have. I use RA (you can order it from Sears on line for 3.99, great price) Floriani, Sulky, Jenny Haskins, Prencia, and a few others that I can't remember right now. My machine likes it all and it should for what I paid for it; no finichky machines for me.
