I redid my kitchen two years ago and it still looks great. I have been emailed a few times asking what I have used and how it is holding up. It still looks wonderful...I spent a total of 120.00 the most costly items were buying knobs for the cabinets. If you have those laminate cabinets and countertops I highly recommend redoing them. pictures are located on my blog. For my kitchen counter I used Minwax waterbased Polycrylic protective finish over the stone paint about 6 coats they recommended 10 coats. it makes a wonderful smooth coating. http://www.thriftyideastoday.com/

Were your kitchen counter tops a shiny stone? I was just wondering if this same thing would be good over a disliked tile counter top. And I have an older bathroom and counter in one piece but sink is showing its age. Sure would love to paint it and the counter tops.

There is a ceramic tile paint that can be used on your tile. The one I saw on TV was in a box in the color scheme of the 'for dummies' books.

My kitchen countertops was that smooth cream laminate. They were horrible! This was a very cheap way to make then look great! its 9.00 a can for the stone paint and the Polycrylic finish was about 23.00. you will need to use about 6-10 coats. Very thin coast using a foam brush. Using that is the best...I love how it came out and it is very strong. We did the counter two years ago and it still looks great. I just did the bathrooms last week....only take about 1/2 total work time. that does not count the time it dries inbetween. I just taped around the sink and it came out great. My sister replace her sink so she was able to spray paint it with out the sink which is easier. My hubby did not want to replace the sink...someday...

Nice kitchen! I painted my poorly stained kitchen cabinets a few years ago (in my previous house) and while it was a ton of work, it did look great when I was done.

use a roller on the cabinets...your first coat will look horrible...but after a few coats they will look great! Post you pictures when done. Its also worth paying abit more for the cabinet paint...it will last longer and has a nice finish. Everyone that came over thought we had new cabinets installed.
