I put one of those adhesive-backed name tags on a challis shirt, and I can't get the adhesive off. Normal washing & Shout! didn't work. I've tried scraping with my fingernail and a credit card. Help!!!

What type of fabric?
WD40 will work but you also have an oil residual that only Dawn dish soap works to get oil stains out for me to remove.

Test a small amount of lighter fluid to make sure it won't take color out of fabric. I use lighter fluid to remove adhesive from labels stuck on book covers, so I'm not sure if it will take color out of fabric.

Not sure if it will work at this point, but normally to remove adhesive tags I heat them first with a hair dryer. Heat softens most adhesives so it becomes easier to remove. If there is only a little adhesive left, though, this will not work; it works best when the paper is still attached.

if everything else fails, I've read that rubbing alcohol will take adhesive off.

Thanks for the fast responses! I didn't have Goo gone on hand, so I tried alcohol, and it worked!
