Default Nice People

I received a call from Cabela's this morning. Someone high jacked my credit card number and was charging a GPS to my account. They questioned the charge because my address was in Connecticut and the items was being shipped to Michigan.
I have never shopped at their store as I am not an outdoor person but I am very impressed by their customer service.
It is that time of year to watch credit charges-as we shop online the scamers/hackers are out there just waiting to make a score.

You do realize how very lucky that was, don't you? You need to be wary now for any other suspicious activity. Maybe you can cancel that particular card (?).

We just went through a credit card scam, and Amex caught it.. We used that credit card at a restaurant, and a couple of days later someone charged stuff at Home Depot. The day later they wanted to charge groceries, and Amex declined it. We are now running into a problem with all our bills that are on automatic charge. They are getting declined, as the number is now changed..

If you've never shopped at Cabela's, how could they possibly know you live in Connecticut?? That by itself is setting off alarm bells for me.

How did they get your phone number? I would question this call. Sounds fishy. You didn't "confirm" your CC number with them on the phone, did you?

Have you called Cabela's to see if they were indeed the ones who called you? Anyone can call you and say, This is Cabela's, this is your bank, etc.
