I clicked onto the board to post a question about fruitcake and fruitcake recipes and the top ad banner was links for fruitcakes. And then when I moved to start a new thread Fruitcakes was also in that ad banner!
Spooky!
So now that I have your attention as well as my own
does anyone have a good recipe for old fashioned fruit cake that is made with fruits and nuts, rum and then wrapped in cheesecloth and kept for a few months before it is served? Not one using the candied fruits they use today.
Thanks
Phyllis

the ads are generated through Google. Google looks at what has been posted or what you have searched for and posts the appropriate ads, or what it thinks is appropriate for your desires

I have made a fruit cake by fermenting fruit with sugar and starter-you start with one kind of fruit (peaches) and sugar and leftover liquid from the last batch, stir each day then add additional fruits (pineapple and marichino cherries) on certain days. You drain the fruit after 30 days or so, reserving at least 2 cups of the liquid, then add cake mix, pudding mix, nuts and other things to make a lighter cake with a hint of alcohol taste-we decided that it would have been better named Christmas cake instead of fruit cake. The starter can be frozen (doesn't actually freeze since it is alcoholic)

And here you thought only the Government is keeping track of you. When you use key words, you will notice the advertising picks up on this too. No it is not spookie, just commercialism. Tricks advertisers use to make money.
