Peanut Butter Quandary
#15
Well, I survived the weekend --PB did not get me! But, I did throw it out. It's been sitting in a desk drawer at work for a couple of years as an emergency sandwich on bagel thingy so its time had come.
Thanks for all the advice!! As for PB sandwich for supper, we fall back on cereal and oatmeal. Been there, done that!

PB would never go bad in our house. My son lives on the it. When he was growing up, he would have a PB sandwich on WW bread, a glass of milk and a banana every morning for breakfast. He's an adult now and not home as much, but the PB is always on hand.

I hate PB so I would care less if it went rancid. But I would have taken that bad PB and added some bird seed to it and set it out for the birds.
Too late, you tossed it in the garbage.
And it's fun to watch the dog's tongue try to lick out the empty jar. Give your dog an empty jar of pb and they will love you forever.

PB does go rancid sometimes and you can tell by smelling it. I really like Smucker's natural PB because the ingredients are just peanuts and salt. It does separate so they suggest you keep it in the fridge (that part won't help you at work QBeth, but it's yummy PB!).
PB and banana sandwich and some ice cream makes a delicious dinner! You've got fiber from the bread and banana and protein from the PB and ice cream. What more could you ask for!

Try powdered peanut butter if you want to keep some emergency pb on hand. I have some called PB2 (you can find it online). All you have to do is add some liquid to it. As a plus, it has most of the fat removed so it is healthier for you. It tastes good too.

It's so easy to make peanut butter when you need it too! and so much cheaper. I keep a big bag of shelled peanuts in the freezer. In a small food processor, grind peanuts and add a little salt. My kids use to grind peanuts for peanut butter for each sandwich. It's fast and tastes so much better. For jelly they mashed some berries. Simply delicious.
