Pinterest - Important information.
I wonder how many of you post pictures of your work to pinterest, or even post pictures you have found on the internet on your board at this site?
Did you, like me just click when you had to agree to the contract and terms when you started using it?
I just happened to read this today http://rettspace.blogspot.co.uk/2012...pinterest.html and it shocked and alarmed me.
I have taken down my boards too.

I've always been a little skeptical of Pinterest -- I figured that for whatever they were offering me for free, they were getting much more in return, probably things I'd never be aware of, much like Facebook.

One thing to remember (out of many): The internet is still a wild, unregulated place. Even after all of these years. ANYONE that has a blog, is on a forum and posts pictures, comments on a post and offers suggestions, etc can have their work, words, ideas, stolen. It just doesn't happen on Pinterest. How many people that have blogs where they show their work ever check other sites to see if it is being reproduced? As a blog owner would you know if a company right now was using a picture of some of your work to promote their own company? Most likely not unless you happen to get lucky and someone that you know reports it to you.
Do I agree with the idea that Pinterest will hold an everyday user liable for their legal fees if they do something illegal and are sued? Of course not. I do think that people who want to use Pinterest should understand what it is and follow the rules to the best of their abilities.
I personally do not put my own work onto Pinterest. If I pin something and I have ideas about how I want to change it or do it differently I do not make a note of them in the description box. I keep that private. Pinterest is a tool that can be used or misused just like any other. But everyone should try to understand what Pinterest is and every other new thing that comes out and respond accordingly.
