One of our dogs growing was 1/2 fox and 1/2 collie. The dog catcher in our smal town looked the other way everytime he saw the wild thing because it was so wild and impossible to catch. One day my brothers who were 6 and 8 ran their legs off until they caught it and carried it home. They begged to keep it. It stayed and was a wonderful pet who even would lay perfectly still as our very tiny kitten would climb on his back and knead him soft with her claws until she was ready to lay down on him to sleep. He cringed but never stopped her.
