The winner of the art show inan Grand Rapids Mi. Went to a quilter this year. I don't know how to add links ( computer challenged) so if anyone can hook up the link that would be great. I googled it and it is so beautiful!! Thanks!

Wow, beautiful work. I was stunned at the amount of the prize - I think both Houston and Paducah's grand prize is $20,000. I like the fact that the contest was open to all forms of art, and a quilt won!
While perusing the Artprize site, I came across an entry by Fraser Smith - he's the artist who carves quilts out of wood. His work is amazing. It looks like quilted cloth, but is hard, solid wood. http://www.artprize.org/fraser-smith...porcelain-vine |
Is he the same artist that has pieces at the Paducah museum? I have seen those and they are amazing!
This is the 4th or 5th year for ArtPrize. And the prize money is a big draw for artists. They have all the different pieces placed at venues thruout the city. There's a voted winner and a juried winner. I've never been, but since we're close, it's always covered by the local media. Was so happy to hear a quilter won!! |
