Any Signs of Spring around you?

I dug under the snow and found three little daffodil shoots just peeking up out of the ground. I covered them back up and told them to go back to sleep as plenty more snow is coming. But it gave me a smile that spring is only a couple months away! Any signs where you live?

QuiltnNan 02-24-2012 01:15 PM

where do you live?

here in Twin Cities MN, I have not seen signs yet.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 02-24-2012 01:16 PM

My crocus are blooming.

Charlee 02-24-2012 01:21 PM

Our bushes are starting to bud out, and we never did lose sight of the robins this year! They just hung around all winter!

barny 02-24-2012 01:23 PM

We have trees getting ready to bloom. Must be cherry or etc.

Peckish 02-24-2012 01:47 PM

My roses are showing new growth buds, and my crocus shoots are peeking out!

DebsShelties 02-24-2012 01:51 PM

I have daffodils blooming - yellow flowers already and the other plants are about ready to start flowering

DogHouseMom 02-24-2012 01:59 PM

I'm just south of Chicago and I have a very confused Tea Rose. He started sprouting. Now I could understand if it was one of my native bush roses that full southern exposure and a fence wall behind them on the north. But the tea rose is completely exposed to the north and west with the wall of the house on the east. Very strange.

A few of the spring bulbs have popped their heads out of the ground and my Ivy is showing signs of color and growth.

mltquilt 02-24-2012 02:29 PM

Here in my area the everyone's iris bulbs are blooming along with jonquils. Could be because it is 60 degrees here today and was 80 earlier this week. Mother nature is most confused here in North Texas.

luvTooQuilt 02-24-2012 02:31 PM

A Missourian here.. We only had like 2 days of winter... earlier this week it was in the 70's... I am SOOOOO not complaining..

Dodee 02-24-2012 03:14 PM

We have all kinds of things blooming around here. I'm afraid a freeze will come along and there goes everything.

fmhall2 02-24-2012 03:31 PM

We have full grown daffodils and lenten roses in our yard. In upstate S.C.

euandca 02-24-2012 03:37 PM

Winter came to Michigan today. We have had sunny weather for much of the month. I am loving it.

luce321 02-24-2012 03:43 PM

Springtime

Here in New Orleans, we have been having springtime weather on and off, yesterday was like summertime. My camelias have been blooming too. However, the weather man predicts a cold front for Saturday night and Sunday morning. You would think that living here all my life I would be used to the drastic changes in the weather, but it does not happen.

Favorite Fabrics 02-24-2012 04:13 PM

Here outside of Buffalo NY our snowdrops are in full bloom - which is amazing! Actually they began to bloom just a few days into February. It's unheard of! (I'm loving it...)

Caroline S 02-24-2012 04:20 PM

The robins arrived last week, the daylilies are four inches out of the ground and I see green buds on most of the native bushes around here. Mother Nature is fooling us I believe. It is gray and raining, raining, raining. But so what is new here in Western Washington?

momto5 02-24-2012 04:41 PM

I'm in SC...about half of my day lilies are open wide and I just noticed that one of my big trees in front of my house (sorry, don't remember what it is...) is about to bloom as well. Hope we don't have a late winter!

decky 02-24-2012 04:55 PM

I was up North in MN and this am it was 18 degrees with not much snow on the ground. When I got home Southern MN it was 26 degrees with more cold weather for the coming week.

gramajo 02-24-2012 05:05 PM

I have snowdrops coming up and a couple of daffodils 1-2" tall peeking out. I'm about 40 miles SW of Chicago.

NikkiLu 02-24-2012 05:31 PM

Middle of Missouri here - have been seeing massive flocks of geese flying north for the past two weeks - a sure sign of an early spring. WOOOHOOO!!!

Jingle 02-24-2012 06:26 PM

About 30 miles south of St.Louis, my hybrid (big) daffodils are up and last Saturday I could see some buds up also, I will check them tomorrow in the daylight. Birds have been singing as if it were Spring most of this month. Winter temps kind of come and go. A neighbor has a small bunch of early daffodils blooming.
I am not ready for the heat and humidity to return this soon. Last two Junes we have had very hot temps.

Sandra in Minnesota 02-24-2012 06:31 PM

We haven't had much of a winter yet either!

sewellie 02-24-2012 06:47 PM

Here's what happens in Idaho this time of year. We have no signs of anything sprouting. Now for what happens. We had 70 degree weather and now we have a very severe wind advisory. This happened about a month ago and our neighbors had a huge blue spruce tree fall over on their pickup. The wind twisted around for about a 4 block area. We lost 40 feet of redwood fence and the soffet (sp?) off our house. The neighbors in the next block had a tree uproot and fell on their house. Did quite some damage. Lots of shingles laying all over the place. Then we got ice and snow. Tonight they're predicting the same thing. Have lived in Idaho 65+ years and never had anything like this happen. It's very still outside right now. I think they call that the lull before the storm. Will report later what happens. Wish I could post pictures on here, but I'm too stupid to figure it out.

sewmuch 02-24-2012 06:47 PM

We are having an early spring, been 78 last 2 days.......daffodils in full bloom, trees flowering and robins
are here, my orchids have blooms also....everything is to early...

Marilynsue 02-24-2012 08:22 PM

All I see when I look out my window is the 6" of new snow we got last night and today. Not a lot of hope for an early Spring!

janedee 02-24-2012 09:24 PM

here in the south east of the uk we are having some unprecedented warm weather for this time of year - 17c yesterday!! I have daffodils in flower and tulips coming up also my frogs are singing very loudly trouble is we could still get some very cold, and even snow - definitely not normal

katigirl 02-25-2012 12:57 AM

Not yet. Getting one of a few snow storms this weekend. Can't complain though it's been great this winter. Very mild.

plainpat 02-25-2012 04:10 AM

Here in Ohio we have purple hyacinthus starting to bloom & have noticed lilac & trees in bud. The geese arrived almost 2 wks ago,to spend their summer on near by pond.

We had wind & dropping temps yest, but back to high 40s tomor & around 60* this wk. This winter is topsy turvy, but sure can't complain.

BabyCakes 02-25-2012 04:55 AM

We had spring all winter in south eastern Wisconsin until yesterday.8in of snow.

gaby4v 02-25-2012 05:01 AM

No sign of Spring here!!! It is snowing since 9 a.m. and still coming down at 10 p.m. Guess I will have to do some shoveling tomorrow. I love Winter, but we have cold temps and snow since end of November, so I am sooooo ready for Spring.

Quilt-Till-U-Wilt 02-25-2012 06:19 AM

The birds are chirply excitedly in the morning.

Johanna Fritz 02-25-2012 06:21 AM

One day 53 degrees here in Milwaukee...now 4" of snow yesterday. I think we have had MAYBE 8 inches all winter. We AVERAGE 100 inches per year...I am loving this, that's for sure.

Abby'smom 02-25-2012 07:24 AM

Trees and bushes are budding out here and it's cool and damp, spring-like but probably a cold snap is coming so it's too early to plant

AUQuilter 02-25-2012 07:32 AM

It was 55 degrees here on Wednesday but yesterday the extreme winds started blowing in COOOLD air and snow over night! Hubby out of town so scraps here I come. It is a cutting project day today and tomorrow is a sewing day. Woohoo!!!

Marni 02-25-2012 07:36 AM

I wish-we are in the midst of a blizzard in Saskatchewan today!-high winds and 10-12 inches of snow in the forecast-not bringing the bike out for awhile yet :(

DebbE 02-25-2012 07:44 AM

My tulips are up (no flowers yet) and the daffodils are forming the flower heads. Daylilies are coming up all over and the trees are budding. Also had snow flurries this morning, but at 40 degrees outside nothing stuck, thank heaven!

Rann 02-25-2012 09:11 AM

Spring? We haven't seen winter yet in south Georgia!!!

fairydawn 02-25-2012 10:38 AM

Have seen tulip greens sprouting in my courtyard garden at work. My garden is under a few inches of snow from the last few days. Am itching to get my hands dirty!

Barbshobbies 02-25-2012 01:04 PM

I was on my thread mill (walking) and looked out the window to see an elephant ear (plant) about 4" high! I live in Northern Wisconsin, that was the 2-17-12. Never heard of it, but we had very little snow, don`t believe we ever needed
to shovel. I dug it up, No frost in the ground, it now sits on the window sill and has 2 new leaves. I looked for daffidills & tulips, but didn`t see any. My DH & I are 77 & 72 yrs old, lived here all our lives and cannot remember a milder winter.

NancyBelly 02-25-2012 03:06 PM

We never had winter here is southern Ohio. I actually find the whole thing quite disturbing. The robins and Canada geese did not migrate this year and the crocuses are in full bloom. I've truly missed the magic of winter..the fresh cold air and snow. I'm so tired of looking at brown grass and mud. Everything just seems off.
