Is anyone here familiar with Tree Frogs?
All last Winter every few days we would hear this "sound" in our living room. We wondered what it was. I could eventually tell it was coming from one of the big plants we keep outdoors all Summer and bring in the rest of the year. One is a Gardenia plant and the other is a Christmas Cactus plant. They are HUGE plants. Well in the early Spring my husband saw this "thing" on the edge of the pot. He picked it up and after some research online we discovered it was a Tree Frog! We love all kinds of critters so it didn't freak us out. He took a few pictures then he put it outside in the yard to live "happily ever after".
Fast forward to this Fall..... Well two days ago he brought those same two big potted plants back in and yesterday as he was going out on our deck he noticed a tree frog inside the screen door that we use every day. We all laughed and side it must have been the one from last Summer and came in the plant a second time! Well this morning while on the computer my husband noticed something moving on the floor....you guessed it...it was another one!! He took its picture then sent it on its merry way outside! We are thinking that first one from last year must have told its buddies where they could find a nice warm plant and house to nestle down in for the Winter! |
How interesting........thought tree frogs were tropical, guess not. I put house plants on deck for summer and Mother Nature to tend to, then bring back in for winter too, but all I get are spiderwebs!. If anything! Cute story...envy your huge plants!

I remember catching and playing with them as a child. Ive not seen one in years....since they eat bugs like flies, spiders, ants or even cockroaches I say keep them around :-)

I love your story. We have tree frogs around our house. Every time it rains you hear them singing, and they get pretty loud. We have a family of squirrels that we feed sunflower seeds all year round. We keep the bag in the garage. You guessed it, we didn't put the seeds out early enough, so they were in the bag getting their own supply.

We have them inside all the time. They must taste bad, our cat won't touch them. I always catch and release them outside. If we don't find them soon enough they become dried frog scicles. They seem to drywith one back leg stretched out. Indoors is too dry for out Florida frogs.

How cute!!! Having grown up in Louisiana, I'm quite familiar with those darling creatures! :D

I don't know if it was a tree frog but 20 years ago in Houston my husband found a dried up frog in the house. He tossed it outside and it happened to rain. Well, that dried up frog came back to life and hopped off!! tiny thing.

We have them here too. Never had one come into the house. I no longer bring flowers in to winter over until spring. You can bring in slugs that live in the drainage holes.

We have them in central Illinois. When I was a kid, they would climb on our windows. It was always neat to watch them blow their bubble when the croaked.
