My mother had a Christmas cactus that she babied, but it never bloomed for her. It was covered with blooms the Christmas after she passed. We said it was her way of being with us at the holiday.

I have this happen, and the florist told me those are actually called a holiday cactus. Mine blooms twice before Christmas and once before Easter. The flowers are hot pink w. white.

My Christmas Cactus doesn't know when it is Christmas either. It always blooms at this time of year, its going really strong at the moment and covered in flowers.
