Hi all, I just wanted to share this awesome thread holder my sister made and uses. It is inexpensive, easy to make and so very handy. I made 2 in a very short time.
All you need is a box of the snack size Ziplock baggies and 2 of the 2" "O" rings. The kind that open. These can be found at any of the craft stores and most hardware stores. I found mine at the dollar store, my sister got hers at Joanns.
Simply punch a hole in each end of the baggie at the bottom, thread the "O" rings thru and then sort your thread into the baggies by color. Here are some photos to show you.

You can make a large one for all your threads and a smaller one for the current project you are working on.

Wow, great idea, I have mine in zip lock bags already, but in a container. This is great..

Just a word: Paper punches don't work great on the plastic. I found it much easier to use an awl. An icepick would also work.
An old piece of styrofoam packing under the plastic is perfect for protecting the work surface!

When you are working on a specific project, number the bags with the thread # to co-ordinate with the piece you are working on. I loved this when I do counted cross stitch.

Great idea. And I think that as rough as kids are at grabbing things, that I'll first add a strip of clear tape over the bottom of the plastic bags before punching holes in them.
