Has anyone tried the Yonanas Ice Cream Treat Maker?
I have a gift certificate from the kids to Bed Bath and Beyond. Here is the link that has a little video attached. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/prod...p?SKU=18484749
The reviews generally are positive for this alternative to high calorie ice cream, which btw my husband can eat by the gallons and never gain an ounce, so I rarely get to eat ice cream. Why? Because all the high calorie things HE eats goes to MY hips! LOL Who better to ask than the quilter's here on the board if this is a worth while purchase? |
I haven't tried it. You might want to check out the additional Amazon reviews on it:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...0Treat%20Maker It probably works fine. The limiting factor would be how much you like soft fruit treats. Basically it turns out frozen pureed fruit. The texture might be similar to soft-serve ice cream, but it won't have the creaminess of ice cream. Also at least one of the reviewers said it was annoyingly difficult to clean afterwards. This seems to be similar to what the Vitamix blenders can produce. |
My daughter has one and says it is really good. She puts in frozen fruit and veggies.

we have one and used it quite a bit when we first got it last summer. But, haven't used it since then. The bananas, fruit etc have to be frozen when you use it. I'd buy it again knowing I'd only use it in the summer...it makes excellent treats! I don't think it's that hard to clean...

My daughter does the same thing with her "Ninja" mixer.

Thank-you for the replies, so glad to hear that it isn't hard to clean. I've had the gift card for a long time and finally think this is what I will use it for. Love soft serve ice cream but can't 'afford' the calories, DH can eat ice cream by bowl fulls just before bedtime and not gain an ounce...

Yes, we did use the gift certificate for the Yonana's and we both decided it is much over-hyped in our humble opinion and returned it. We also own a Vita-Mix and can get the same results using the Vita-Mix blender and in fact AGAIN in OUR opinion get better results. I haven't checked Amazon's reviews on this since it's been over a year since we bought then returned it...but I usually trust the reviews there.
