This TN DH and I celebrated our 46th a couple of weeks ago--and had no new where to go or new thing to do--we just went out to dinner and enjoyed our time together reminiscing (?) the "short" time. Neither of us can believe it has been that long--seems like last week we were just planning our nuptials in LA; moving to AL; to MS; to TX; to Okinawa; to ND; to TX; to TN; to NC; and finally l7 years ago to TN......He encourages me, and I support his crazy forays into spending lots of money--currently "old Chevies". He spends as much on his stuff as I do on mine--I buy every old sewing machine I find at yard sales, flea markets, estate sales--plus I own a TOL Elna, Gammill, Husqvarna Viking Designer I and about 40 (very conservative guess) old Singers, and misc. other regular sewing machines that we have worked on together to get them up and running. Genuine respect for each other, plus a little love thrown in for good measure--that is what works for us.

One of the reasons I stopped quilting when I first got married was because every time I started sewing and was really getting in to it, he would ask me a stupid question, it was either put the sewing down or blow up at him. I just put it all away, then after we'd been married 20 years and he has a few hobbies of his own, I've finally been able to start again but I just can't seem to be able to get in the zone the way I used to. I really need to step away from the computer because I get on here and find a ton of ideas and then it seems like there are too many to choose from. Oh well, I'll get there eventually.

Sounds like you have a great husband.....I am single but have a very special someone in my life......He is building me a barn at this time...I will have a 20x30 sewing room in the front of it.....He use to be a builder in his younger years and loves to tinker....I am very blessed to have found such a wonderful person.....

You are a nice-looking couple. And what a sweetie, by the way. I also have a very sweet guy that enables my quilting, and never says a word when I buy more fabric. God is good.

My DH and I have been married 32 years, we were in the Navy together and now run a business together, so we are together a lot! He is also a keeper. He cooks, vacuums, does the dishes and encourages my hobbies. I love to learn new things, recently I have taught myself how to Tat, and working on making a pair of socks. I have knitted for many years, I also do stained glass and have started to make quilts for our local VA hospital. He supports my hobbies but when I leave him alone to long he comes looking to see what I am up to? Our solution, we built him a man cave! He has a 24 by 28 foot garage just for his toys. I get to sew when he goes out to play! The down side is that he will show me a picture of something and ask if I can make one, or do something similar. I finished the second of two bags for a cancer project tonight, since I asked him to make me a new dresser he has been out in the garage all afternoon and most of the evening! Next is on to some BOMs and a table runner.

I'm on the computer...DH is reading paper in living room...he just told me Joann's has a couple of coupons in their ad! Then said..."looks like we're going shopping"! The Joann's I shop at is by a Best Buy...I get fabric... he wanders electronics and buys gizmos he likes!
