I'm thinking of going somewhere to escape the cold January here in the midwest. We both just retired and are looking for someplace different. Any suggestions?? :-D

I say this same thing every winter. I'm not retired yet so here I stay. I hope you find somewhere warm.

Carolina Beach, NC. Never super crowded. Good rates on rentals. Goregous place. Near Wilmington if you need some bigger town activities. Warm, but not hot.

Howdy from Council Bluffs!! Go to Texas...lots of space if you don't mind the heat/humidity.

My dream would be to spend a winter staying a few days here, a week there...going from one warm region to another, then deciding where to snowbird to each year :D :D :D

I would head down to the gulf of Alabama!!!

There are different kinds of warmth, and different kinds of places.

If you want a nice, dry warmth, Arizona is wonderful. There are bargains to be had if you want to buy a condo. I like Tucson, which has a laid-back image. Lots of snowbird communities there. Scottsdale, a suburb of Phoenix, is very upscale. Sedona is very New Agey.

If you like 70 degrees and oceans, then maybe San Diego. Of course, California has a huge variety of warm, sunny places to choose from.

If you're okay with humidity, then Florida may be your mecca. It has all kinds of snowbird areas, from trailer parks to high rise apartment buildings. If you want a metro area, consider Miami.
