My husband is ordering my medicine this morning. He said he would not go to the doctor on Friday unless I do and he is as stubborn as me; no more stubborn than me. I do need the medicine but I feel guilty becasue I do not work anymore and I have been denied my Social Security 4 times. I can not even stand long enough to cook a meal or wash dishes.I have a guilt reflex and I can buy for anyone else or the house but not me. Do I make sense?

There's no guilt in needing medicine. If you don't take care of yourself you can't take care of anyone or anything else. Take your medicine.

Wonderful that you will receive your meds! My dad has high blood pressure that went untreated for many years and it has wreaked havoc on his poor body. He has lost the function of one kidney and had to have a stent in the other in hopes to save it. He now has vascular disease and dementia....all caused by prolonged high blood pressure. Please take your meds!!!!

Take your medication. As woman we take care of everyone else but not ourselves.

I'm glad to hear you will be getting your meds. I do understand how you feel about not being able to work. I've always worked and still do. I want to work out of my house, but I figure it will take a good 6 months to build a client base. I worry about not bring in enough money during that time. So for now, I work outside the house 4 days a week and try to work one day a week from home. I have that mind set, I have to pull my own weight. Hubby has been telling me for over a year to quit my job and I just can't. Try again for your SSI, I've read it takes 2 to 3 years to get approved.

Do you have pets? Do they "contribute"? Do you take care of them?

When your children were little - did they "contribute"? Did you take care of them? I think you are still "taking care" of some of your adult children?

Sometimes just "being" is a good enough reason to take care of oneself and to be taken care of.

And if you MUST think about "being worth the cost" - are you able to do more when you take your meds than when you don't?

Or to put it another way - do you require less care when you are on your meds?

Why have you been denied your social security? I am lucky that my husband had a good medical plan that I was allowed to carry after he passed away, so I have a good prescription plan. I take 6 meds a day and know I would be in bad shape without them. It is very important to keep taking your meds as prescribed. You should not feel guilty for needing medication.

You have to keep trying when applying for disability. Every time they turn you down, reapply right away. Keep records of everything. I know, been there done that and got it. They pay back to when you first applied when it goes through.

do you have a lawyer it took 5 yrs for me to get my SS got paid for all the time they denied me you will get it. they quit fighting when i turned 55 did have medacare had to pay out of pocket for the gap insurance. thank god workmans comp desided to settle. you will get it and all the way back to the start. i know how you feel not being able to pay for it yourself.

If you can't afford meds....and in just in case no one's told you -- check with the pharamacy. 1) Walmart has generics as low as $4.00 and 2) if you can't afford, some drug companies provide them for free......

AND - my late husband tried 3 times for SS -- if you don't have one -- get an attorney!!! The $$ will come out of what you would be awarded (they don't chg you if you don't win). In our case, we found out thru the atty that the DOCTORs weren't sending in reports!!!! The SS people hadn't had a doctor report newer than 4 yrs....and in that 4 yrs he had developed leukemia and congestive heart failure on top of the emphysema. The judge wouldn't even let them talk --- said you could tell my looking at DH that he couldn't work. He got his SS 9 months before he died.....
