Now that is very encouraging - your X bid on an Elna for you and having it shipped to you - I would say he has a good heart - what a decent thing for him to do for you - he deserves a big pat on the back. I hope it hurries to your home, sounds like that could be your new quilting pal. Things will work out for you. Have Faith.

We have the highest co pay on our vehicle insurance they offer so I don't leave anything in the car that I can't replace easy. When traveling I take everything out of the car every night and repack it every morning when at motels.

We traveled from Oregon to San Antonio, TX for a convention several years back, and although it was time consuming, we completely unloaded our car every night at the motels. We actually got pretty well organized on the procedure by the time three weeks was up.

It's coming from FL and should be here (AZ) in a week. I'll have it serviced and let you know how it runs. I'm overjoyed, humbled, excited, and feeling very UN-worthy of his generosity.

I'll immediately record the serial number and put it to work churning out more quilts - photos of which I'll share here.

Don't have any suggestions on a machine, but I am so sorry that such a terrible thing happened to you. Hope you are able to recover some of your items.

So sorry to hear about your Elna. I totally understand your attachment to it as I had one that I bought in about 1980. I just didn't think any machine would ever suit me again. I bought a Bernina 830 record and have been very pleased with it, but it still wasn't my Elna. About 3 yrs ago, I found one on ebay and bought it. This baby was absolutely in mint condition. In fact it had been used so little, that part of it was frozen up from lack of use. I took it in, had it serviced, and it sews beautifully. With all that said, I find myself rarely using it as stick with my Bernina. Hope the one your X bought for you, turns out as nice... best wishes!

Ohhh, what a sad story. Sorry for your loss and hope that even with your higher deductible that your insurance company is generous with you.

As another Elna SU owner, (40 yrs old and still purring along), I feel your pain. I am so sorry that you were violated this way. Good luck with your shopping for a new machine. Let us know what you decide on.

Did you check the local craiglist (thieves use it to make a fast buck)? That is how a friend of mine helped the police get her stuff back. She found the listing for her property, answered it from a new email account (no connection to anything in her belongings), and had the cops meet the thief to make the purchase! She did get most of her stuff back after the court case. Good luck.
